Hello! Leo here. My name means ‘lion’, which feels entirely appropriate because I’m handsome, confident, and have a magnificent golden mane. Admittedly, I’m not much of a roarer. I’m more of a lover, toy-carrier, and professional
investigator. I’m around a year old and bursting with curiosity, as a pup should be. I adore people, enjoy meeting other Goldens, and like to trot around proudly with my favourite toy in my mouth, just in case anyone has failed to notice how clever and adorable I am. When I first arrived in foster care, my manners were, how shall we put this…largely theoretical. I pulled everywhere on leash, jumped up, and had some rather strong opinions about cooperating. I’ve made wonderful progress and now walk very well until an exciting smell or squirrel appears. Then my nose takes command and apparently forgets that the rest of me is attached. I’m friendly, loving, and comfortable in new situations. I enjoy car rides, can be left alone, and am always delighted to receive affection. I also have a stubborn streak ~ if I disagree with the proposed direction of travel, I may lie down and apply the brakes. Fortunately, I’m food-motivated, which is a polite way of saying I can usually be persuaded to reconsider. I need an experienced, active family committed to continuing my training and giving me plenty of exercise, structure and love. Someone home much of the time would be ideal, along with a securely fenced yard because I am curious, quick, and not above launching my own expedition. I cannot live with cats and while another energetic Golden may be a good match, I can sometimes be a little bossy, so introductions will be important. Beneath all this youthful enthusiasm is an affectionate boy who has already come a very long way. I don’t need someone who expects perfect manners on day one. I need someone who will keep teaching me how to become the wonderful grown-up Golden I’m meant to be. Every young lion needs a pride. I’m ready to find mine.
