Hi everyone, Bella here. I’m a 4-year-old girl who is still learning that the world isn’t quite as scary as it sometimes feels. I need time, patience, and trust before I’m completely comfortable with people, especially those who are strangers to me. But once I decide you’re safe, I’m incredibly affectionate and loyal. I’ll follow you around, stay close by, and give you all the love I’ve been saving up. I’m a clever girl with lovely house manners. I am fully house-trained and not destructive, don’t counter surf, and won’t steal your favourite shoe or sock. Loud noises don’t bother me and I sleep peacefully through the night or while my humans are out. Long, sniffy walks (or ‘sniffaris’ as I like to call them), car rides, belly rubs (from my favourite humans), and good naps are some of my favourite things. I’m still figuring out toys, although I’ve discovered that little rocks are excellent for tossing into the air. My foster family isn’t quite as impressed with this particular hobby as I am. When I’m excited or want your attention, I can be a bit of a character. I may stand on my hind legs and wave my paws around or let out my best Chewbacca impression. I’m treat-motivated, eager to please, and know my basic commands. I do have some challenges though and I need an experienced, patient family who will respect my boundaries, go slowly, help me learn that new experiences can be safe, and are prepared to work through them with me. New people, unfamiliar situations, and things I don’t understand can make me unsure. I can be nervous around new people and generally warm up faster to women. I sometimes bark at people or other dogs when I’m feeling uneasy. I walk nicely with my halti; however, I need continued training and patient guidance to help me build confidence and make good choices when the world gets exciting. Grooming and vet visits are difficult for me right now as being handled and touched by unfamiliar people is uncomfortable. I’m happiest with people who will not expect me to instantly trust them and will not push me when I’m telling them I need space. I’m looking for an experienced, active, single or couple adult home with people who understand dogs like me and are willing to continue my training and socialization. A securely fenced yard would be
important as is a home without cats or young children. I may not be the easiest girl right away, but I have so much potential. Once I feel safe, you’ll see the real Bella ~ sweet, silly, affectionate, loyal, and devoted. I’ll bring the cuddles, the comedy, and probably a few questionable rock-related hobbies.
