Mabel: Hi…I’m Mabel and I’m 11 months old.
Stella: And I’m Stella and I’m only 5 months old.
Mabel: And before you ask…
Stella: Yes.
Both: We’re staying together.
Mabel: We’re sisters and best friends.
Stella: Partners in crime and adventure buddies.
Mabel: Professional backyard explorers.
Stella: Amateur landscapers.
Mabel: That wasn’t me.
Stella: It was definitely you.
Mabel: Fine. It was mostly me.
Both: See? This is how our conversations usually go. We’re puppies, after all.
Mabel: I’m the older sister ~ worldly, experienced, and extremely wise.
Stella: You’re only six months older than me.
Mabel: Details! My favourite hobby is investigating absolutely everything ~ every stick, every leaf, every pebble, every squirrel, every smell. If there’s something outside that I haven’t inspected, I’m pretty sure it’s my responsibility to go find it.
Stella: And I come too!
Mabel: Of course you do! Stella thinks every adventure is a good adventure…especially if it involves people.
Stella: People are AMAZING! They pet you and tell you you’re pretty and sometimes they have treats. I love everybody!
Mabel: She really does. She’s the cuddler. I’m the explorer. She’s the Velcro puppy who wants to lie at your feet while you wash dishes. I’m the one checking to see what might be hiding behind the garden shed.
Stella: Our foster mom says we should probably mention something ~ Training.
Mabel: Again?
Stella: Yes, again. We’re both still puppies, which means we still have lots to learn. We’re working on housetraining, learning our manners, and figuring out that humans sometimes say things like ‘sit’, ‘leave it’, and ‘stop eating that’.
Mabel: In my defense…there was absolutely no reason to leave that interesting thing on the ground.
Stella: See what I have to deal with?
Mabel: Excuse me…you’re the one who follows me everywhere.
Stella: That’s because you’re my sister.
Mabel: Okay, she’s got me there. The truth is, we adore each other:
We play together.
We sleep near each other.
We make each other feel brave.
And yes…sometimes we get each other a little wound up.
Stella: Just a little.
Mabel: According to our foster, a ‘little’ means they sometimes have to separate us so we remember how to focus.
Stella: Our dream family? Someone with patience. A secure fenced backyard. A sense of humour. A love of puppy shenanigans. And a commitment to helping us become the amazing girls we were born to be. We’ll need consistency, guidance and training; however, we’re both smart, eager, and full of potential.
Stella: Oh…and cuddles…lots of cuddles.
Mabel: If you’re looking for a perfectly trained pair, we’re probably not your girls.
Stella: If you’re looking for twice the laughter, twice the entertainment…twice the muddy paw prints…twice the unconditional love…that’s us times two!
