WHAT AM I DOING ON A GOLDEN RESCUE WEBSITE?
It’s a fair question. After all, I’m not a Golden. I’m not even a Golden mix. I don’t even have a distant Golden cousin that I know of. I’m a Potcake…the affectionate Caribbean name for mixed-breed island dogs. I am from Barbados and while I may not have flowing golden locks, I do have something else in common with every dog Golden Rescue helps: we all deserve a second chance. A kind Canadian living in Barbados couldn’t look away when she saw me in
desperate need. She rescued me, got me healthy, vaccinated, spayed, and ready for a brighter future. Now, she’s hoping to find me a home in Canada because, quite simply, my future in Barbados is bleak. I was abandoned, unwanted, and left to fend for myself. The good news? Those days are behind me. Today I’m healthy, fully vetted, learning my manners, and discovering that life is pretty great when humans are kind. I’m affectionate, social, food-motivated, and eager to learn. I enjoy other dogs, respect cats, and would love a family willing to continue helping me become the best dog I can be. I’m looking for a family willing to give an island dog a chance.
Milva #5178 ~ The Confident One
Hi, I’m Milva. I’m 8 months old and 31 pounds of what my foster calls ‘main-character energy’. I’m loving, confident, and full of personality, but once I’m inside the house, I’m surprisingly calm. My favourite activities include naps, snuggles, and supervising household events from the most comfortable bed available. I like other dogs, although I sometimes need a little time to decide I’m the boss before becoming their best friend. I’m smart, trainable, and eager to please, and I promise to keep you smiling every day.
