Some Goldens are fireworks. Poppy is a campfire. She won’t burst into your life in a blaze of excitement, but if you give her a little time, she’ll quietly become the warmest part of your day. At just three years old, this beautiful girl has come a long way since arriving in foster care. Once timid and uncertain, Poppy has blossomed into a calm, affectionate companion who is discovering that life can actually be pretty wonderful. She still approaches new things thoughtfully (very thoughtfully…), but once she decides you’re one of the good ones, you’ll have a loyal best friend for life. Poppy is happiest enjoying life’s simple pleasures…a peaceful walk…watching birds from the backyard…a leisurely car ride…curling up beside her favourite person. She isn’t looking for constant excitement…just someone she can share the quiet moments with. One thing you’ll quickly discover is that Poppy is always paying attention. New object? She’ll inspect it. Strange sound? She’ll investigate from a safe distance. Missing sock? Well…there’s a reasonable chance Poppy knows exactly where it went (she does have a bit of a sock collection). Poppy would love a calm home with someone who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. She isn’t interested in the hustle and bustle of city life and would much rather enjoy a quieter setting where she can continue building her confidence. She would prefer to be your one and only dog, although the right calm canine companion might be considered. She’ll also need someone who enjoys continuing her training. She’s a strong girl with a healthy curiosity about squirrels, rabbits, and birds, so she’ll appreciate an adopter who can keep up with her on walks while helping her build on everything she’s already learned (so no cats please). That’s why a secure yard is also essential as she could be a bolter. Poppy isn’t the kind of girl who hands her heart to everyone she meets. She saves it for someone special. If you’re patient enough to let that happen, you’ll discover there’s something incredibly rewarding about being the person she chooses to trust.
