Hi, I’m Jake, an 8-year-old Golden gentleman with my priorities firmly in order: an interesting sniffari, a paddle in a stream, perhaps a car ride, and then a sunny spot where I can recover from my extremely demanding schedule. I enjoy modest walks, occasional hikes, shared play, and quiet companionship. I’m house-trained, gentle with treats, and increasingly interested in being part of everyday life. I can also be wonderfully cuddly once I trust you. When I’ve had enough affection, I’ll politely take my leave as a gentleman requires boundaries. I’m looking for experienced people in a quiet adult home, ideally a retired or older couple with time to spend with me. Respectful teenagers may be considered; however, young children and busy households aren’t my style. I can be your one and only, although a calm, non-pushy female companion might suit me after careful introductions. Cats remain an unanswered question. Now for the important part: I guard my food and may growl if someone hovers, pets me or tries to take it away. Please listen when I communicate. Give me peaceful meals, keep other animals away while I eat, and allow trust around handling and grooming to grow gradually. I may bark or whine when I want something. Consistent rules and calm greetings help me remember my manners. I’m not suited to high-rise living or a bustling environment and I’ll need time to learn that being alone is safe in a new home. I’m not looking for a busy life. I’m looking for a safe one…with someone who understands that trust is built one quiet day at a time.
