Brodie and Barney are two sweet, soulful 8-year-old brothers who are ready to find their forever home…together. These Golden-mix boys have been through a lot, but thanks to a loving foster home, they’ve blossomed into a lovable, quirky duo with hearts of gold. Now, they’re looking for a quiet, affectionate family where they can live out their golden years surrounded by love.
Brodie is the gentle soul of the pair. He’s exceptionally sweet, a little timid at times, and always adorable. He has arthritis in his back legs, but it doesn’t stop him from getting around and enjoying life. Brodie has a bit of paralysis in his lower lip that gives him the most endearing expression ~ like he’s about to whistle a happy tune. Everyone who meets him falls in love with his quiet charm. He doesn’t need as much exercise as his brother and is happiest with a comfy spot to relax with some gentle affection.
Barney is the class clown and he’s the one who’s part Golden. He’s a goofy, playful boy who’s always in a good mood and loves to instigate play with his brother, often by trying to nibble on Brodie’s tail (see the video here). He has some vision issues in one eye, but you’d never know it from the way he bounces around with joy. Barney is full of affection and always ready for fun. Barney is also Brodie’s security blanket. His presence brings Brodie comfort and confidence and life is simply easier for Brodie when his best friend is by his side.
Brodie and Barney enjoy short walks, snuggle time, and just being near their people…and other dogs as they are both sociable. While they’re generally good on leash, they’ll benefit from a little more practice…and a patient adopter willing to help them continue building their confidence. With a bit of time and consistency, they’ll settle into a routine beautifully. These boys have so much potential and it won’t take long for them to adjust in the right environment. They are looking for a calm, loving family where they can be the center of someone’s world. They don’t need much…just a soft bed, gentle walks, and a human (or two) who will shower them with affection. A quieter environment with older children or adults would be best. They’ll thrive with adopters who understand the importance of patience during the adjustment period and who can appreciate the quiet joy of two senior dogs who want nothing more than to love and be loved. If you’re looking for devoted, calm, and loving companions, Brodie and Barney are the perfect pair. These boys don’t ask for much…just the chance to be cherished.
