Happy Dog Days of Summer everyone! My name is Blondie and I’m around 3 years old. My Golden Rescue story is long, difficult, and a bit scary. The wonderful GR people rescued me and 24 other brothers and sisters from a bad situation in Manitoba (I was part of the Manitoba 25). In transit during this rescue mission, I escaped and was lost for 38 days. Silly me ~ I had no idea GR was such a wonderful group of humans and I was so afraid I just wanted to escape. I would never have run away if I knew then what I know now. I have been treated like a queen. My amazing foster family has helped me so much. When I was found, I was filthy, disheveled, skinny, and terrified. Now? I am a pretty good-looking girl I’ve been told. I have put on much-needed weight and although I can still be fearful in certain situations, I am soooo much better. I am okay one-on-one with humans but in a crowd, I get spooked easily. With dogs, however, I love the company and enjoy playing, so GR thinks it would be best if I was in a home with another dog or more. It would also be best to be in a quiet environment without too much hustle and bustle so no small children for now and definitely no cats. A secure backyard would be essential as I have a high prey drive. I really hope I’m not asking for too much. The doc says I’m a healthy girl and I sure feel good. If you choose me, you will have to be patient with me, as my fear in new situations is still there. I grow more confident every day and with love and attention, it won’t take me long to be my best self. Here’s what my foster dad says about me: ”Blondie is a very loving and affectionate girl. She has a sweet nature and loves to sit with you and get pets. While she still shows fear, her fear level has dropped significantly allowing her wonderful character and loving personality and intelligence to emerge.” I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at GR for everything you’ve done for me. I am so sorry I escaped and caused you so much grief. I will try to make it up to you by showing love and gratitude every single day and I will of course always sing praises about GR. You quite literally saved my life!
