Abby #4502

Gender: female

Status: Adopted

Abby was surrendered to Golden Rescue from a breeding farm. She arrived in our care with nothing, not even a name. Her age was unknown but suspected to be between 6 – 8 years old. There were no veterinary records and it’s likely she never ever went to a vet. It was quickly determined that she was not housetrained and afraid to walk on grass, enter through doorways or walk up steps. She was nervous of everything including meeting new people and eating out of a bowl. Her first few days were spent hiding behind a chair. She did not eat for several days and closely watched her surroundings. Slowly she emerged and started to interact with our other Golden, who certainly helped her gain confidence. Fast forward a couple of years and Abby is a happy girl. She has had several medical emergencies, including the extraction of all of her teeth except the two bottom incisors to help keep her tongue in her mouth. Her fur grew beautifully, her eyes are bright, and she loves to run. We’ve had some setbacks but it’s Abby’s resilience that has prevailed. She is making up for all the lost years and loving her new life. She is a shining example of determination. She loves everyone she meets ~ human, canine, and feline. Abby has remained a vital part of our family and we can’t imagine our lives without her.
