Lucy #4470

Gender: female

Status: Adopted

Lucy came to us in 2023, a tiny, 38-pound girl who had clearly not had a good start in life. She was frightened of almost everything and would cower and run if someone approached her too quickly. Even the sound of a paper bag blowing around behind her on a trail would make her bolt. Peter, her foster dad, did a wonderful job training her on basic commands and walking on leash and showing her that not all humans are mean. Although she didn’t seem to know what toys were, she did start chewing balls and sticks in our backyard and within days of coming home with us, we realized she’s a natural retriever. She runs like blazes to retrieve a ball or frisbee and races back and drops it at our feet! We introduced her to swimming and she is, like most Goldens, a natural and loves it. We’re retired and like travelling in Canada in our motor home and luckily for us, she found her spot and loves it too. She has enjoyed many camping adventures, which always include a stop at a lake or river to swim, run in the sand, and chew sticks. She loves winter camping too, rolling in the snow and gobbling it up. Lucy has really come a long way in the time we’ve had her and she’ll now approach strangers for some petting (or treats). Her favourite things are chasing balls, swimming, lots of petting and, of course, food! When she came to us, her name was Lucky but we are the lucky ones to have this little angel in our lives.
