#3877 Rumi ~ Chapter 2
Gender: male
Rumi is great! He’ll be seven on November 9th (was about 2.5 when he came into our lives). What a great boy he has turned out to be ~ extremely smart and loves people and other dogs. He’s a bit nervous of very large dogs. He arrived with a small scar on the bridge of his nose so maybe he got into a scuffle along the way. He still has separation anxiety and likely will have it for life. He is loved by all our neighbours. Just yesterday while we were working in the front garden, he went to our neighbour who dog-sits him and went to the front door. They answered and he went inside to greet them and then stood in front of their refrigerator waiting for a treat. He has it all figured out. He is a very happy boy now ~ he was somewhat apprehensive at first about people touching him especially at the vet clinic. That has changed now that he can trust us and others. We are now able to brush his teeth and clean his ears and eyes. That was not possible when he first arrived. One of his favourite pastimes is looking out the front window for other dogs on their walks. Rumi goes into the local beer and wine stores with us. Many of the staff are dog owners and love to see him ~ it makes their day! One cashier has three dogs and makes homemade liver treats. He runs to her and sits politely waiting for his treat. He then goes behind the customer service desk and shows them where they stash their treats hoping he’ll get another one and he always does ~ it’s quite a skill.
