Adoption Alert ~ Shera #2649 - Adopted!!
Hi everyone! My name is Shera and I’m a six-year-old girl. When I first came into foster care I was a little sad ~ I missed my family. I would sit at the door or in the yard for hours just staring up the street watching for them. I am a happy girl now because I’ve been doing such fun things here with my amazing foster mom and all the other dogs. We go on these big long walks and hikes everyday, play ball, learn some new things, and I’ve even been swimming, which I just love!!! I get overly excited when we get ready for our walks and I can become a little pushy with the others dogs. I push my way to the door and pin myself tight against it, hoping I will be the first out so I’m not forgotten. Foster mom and I are working on this and I think I’m getting a little better because I never get left behind. I am currently being walked with a gentle leader as I am so excited at the start of my walk, but I calm down soon and then my foster mom usually removes it. I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t have many manners when I first came in to foster care. I would lunge at my food bowl, gobble it down, and then try to eat the other dogs’ food and then the cat food as well. Foster mom says that it’s not my fault, I was never taught any better. Phew! I’m proud to say that I don’t lunge at my food anymore. I will sit politely and wait in front of my bowl for the ‘okay’ command. I no longer eat the other dogs’ food and I ALMOST never eat the cat food (teehee). You have to be careful what you drop on the floor though, cause whatever it is, I gobble it down without even sniffing or looking at it. I know it’s a bad habit, but I’m trying very hard to control it. I take my treats a little rough but I’m quickly learning the ‘gentle’ command. I ignore cats and get along well with other dogs, but seem to prefer playing with male dogs. I have no separation anxiety ~ I may whimper at the door for a few minutes when you leave, but that’s about it. Loud noises don’t seem to bother me. I love to be petted and snuggle up with you and my favourite place to sleep is on the foot of your bed. My favourite things to do are go for long walks, play ball, take car rides, swimming, and, of course, snuggling. Well, that’s about all I have to tell you about me. Foster mom says its time for me to find my forever family. Even though I will really miss her and all the dogs (and even the cats), I am very excited about my new adventure! I can’t wait to meet you!
