Adoption Alert ~ Petey #2661 - Adoption in Progress

Hi everyone…my name is Petey and I’m four years old.  My amazing foster family have been so good to me and have been showing me the ropes.  You see, I didn’t get a lot of training in my previous life so I’ve been learning a ton of stuff lately.  I’m told I’m a fast learner and very smart.  In fact, my foster mom once described me as sweet, loving, sensitive, happy, gentle, and trusting.  Boy, I sure hope I can live up to those words when I find my forever family.  My big issue right now is separation anxiety.  I don’t like being left alone.  When my family leaves, I have to go into the crate and I don’t like that either.  It’s possible that this habit will get better over time once I get totally comfortable in my new home but, for now, they’re looking for a family who will rarely leave me alone.  I’m learning the leash thing pretty well and I have a martingale collar which seems to help.  I do have skin allergies, which is being treated with new food and it is improving.  I am very gentle with my food and treats and love being petted and touched anywhere.  I love people, other dogs, and even cats are okay by me.  I can be timid if a dog approaches me too vigorously but other than that I like them.  I love my car rides, walkies, and especially swimming.  I could swim for hours and hours, so my personal wish would be that you’re on or near water.  Well, I’ve got to go.  I have a busy day in school planned.  Let me leave you with a quote from my dear foster mom, “As long as someone is willing to put in the time for minor training, moderate grooming, and major love, Petey will be a once-in-a-lifetime boy”.  Wow ~ I am truly humbled!!!
