Adoption Alert ~ Maya #2642
Bonjour mes amis! Je m'appelle Maya. As you’ve probably guessed, I’m from Quebec and am seven years old. I was found in a shelter by the wonderful people at Golden Rescue. I was in pretty bad shape and also suffered from a thyroid condition which made me put on a lot of weight. But my thyroid is now under control with meds and I’ve lost 15 pounds. In fact, there has been such a transformation, my amazing foster mom has nicknamed me ‘Beauty’. Pretty good, n’est pas? My biggest failing is I’m afraid of other dogs so I lash out. It’s called ‘fear aggression’ so I shouldn’t be in a house with other pets. In fact, my perfect home would be somewhere rural with a big fenced yard where I could run and play to my heart’s content without encountering other dogs. Our trainer says I could grow out of this but it would take a lot of work on your part. Consistent leash training by a strong alpha would likely help my issue (and by ‘strong’ I mean persistently and physically as I’m a VERY strong girl). If you don’t want to do the training, a big back yard would work just fine. In every other way, I’m sweet and loving and I love every person I’ve met. I have lots of energy ~ I play hard and I sleep hard, just like a puppy, but I can expend my energy running and playing. I’m used to that and love it. I’m not a big barker unless I come across another dog. I love my toys and car rides but I must admit I get over excited with everyone I see out of the car window so a crate might be better for me when I’m in the car. Loud noises don’t bother me but I don’t like thunder. I can be left alone with no problem as you go about your chores. Life has improved so much for me and I’m told I’m ready to find my forever family ~ scary but exciting at the same time. Thank you everyone, especially my foster mom. You’re the best! Merci beaucoup to all who have helped with my journey and I hope to be ‘home’ for Christmas. That’s all I wish for…
