Adoption Alert ~ Jack #2539
Hi everybody…my name is Jack and I think I’m about four years old, not that I’m super good at counting…haha! I’m a big boy, full of energy. I’ve been in school for a while learning my commands and learning how to behave better. My foster dad says I am doing really well but will need a strong alpha to look up to and remind me what’s what. It’s also critical for me to continue my training, at least until graduation day. I’m told that firmness, consistency, and lots of love and praise might get me a gold star certificate. I’m ready and willing if you are! In the meantime, I love people very much. Everyone I’ve met has been so kind to me and I think humans are the best; however, I’m not good with dogs. I can be dominant with loud and aggressive barking, especially when food is around. So, in a perfect world, no other dog in the family would be great and then maybe we could work together on socialization so that I get better meeting other dogs over time ~ paws crossed! I’m not great on the leash but I am improving and respond well to correction. I love my food and probably eat too fast and sometimes I get an upset tummy so feeding me slowly seems to work much better than giving it to me all at once. I’m not afraid of loud noises and I’m not a big barker (unless there are other dogs around). I’m as healthy as a horse except for my tummy at times. I know my stuff and respond well to commands, am fine in my crate, and am okay being left alone if you need to go out. As much as I like to play, roughhousing is not a good thing for me. I get overstimulated and then have some dominance issues so things like wrestling and tug-of-war are a no-no. I actually don’t care about toys. I don’t need them to be happy. I just need stimulation to be a happy boy. I actually run around in big circles wagging my tail just like a puppy. I’m told it’s very cute to see a big boy like me be so puppy-like. I also love cuddling and being petted, by the way, so I’m not only about exercise. I am the energizer bunny, except that I’m a dog not a bunny, so if you’re looking for an active, energetic partner, I’m your boy. I’m a fast learner and anxious to please so if we could complete my schooling together, I’m sure we’d have an amazing life together.
