Adoption Alert ~ Hoya #2695
Hi everybody…my name is Hoya and I’m an eight-year-old boy from far away in Istanbul. I’m not sure how I got here but ‘here’ is definitely better. I had a big wound on my rear paw, which the kind folks at GR fixed and I’m now fine but it does slow me down a bit. I can’t go crazy running around like other Goldens but I can walk just fine. Lately I’ve been learning to swim and that’s really good for me. It doesn’t hurt my paw and it gives me much needed exercise that will strengthen my muscles. My wonderful foster mom says I’m a really sweet boy to have around. Isn’t that a lovely thing to say? I do like people and other dogs but I can be wary of some dogs because of my foot (I just don’t like things to get too boisterous). Having said that, when it’s meal time or time to go out I can get really boisterous myself. When I get over-excited I bark a lot, which can be annoying but I’m working on that. Funny thing is I don’t bark when someone comes to the door…go figure! I know my stuff pretty well and I’m good on the leash although I do like to stop and smell the roses. Loud noises don’t bother me and although I bark a lot when you first leave, you can leave me alone if you have to go out without me. Despite my paw, I can jump into the car no problem. In fact, one of my favourite things is car rides along with walks, snuggling, snoozing, and rolling in the grass. Because of my paw, stairs are a bit of a problem unless they are carpeted. I also have to be careful not to gain weight as it could add stress to my paw, which isn’t good and generally I need to be mindful of my paw to make sure it stays healthy (I wear a sock on it constantly for protection from the elements and myself as I used to chew on my paw). Other than that, I’m your typical snuggly Golden who is very grateful to be brought to your wonderful country and I will be forever grateful to all the folks at GR, especially my foster family.
Hoya is currently being fostered in the Toronto, ON area. If you would like more information about Hoya please call our hot-line toll free at 1-866-712-8444 or email and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
