Adoption Alert ~ Charlie #2549 - Adopted!!
Hi everyone…my name is Charlie and I’m seven years old. I’m not sure how I got here but ‘here’ sure is good and I’m very grateful. Golden Rescue found me at a shelter and sprung me ~ am I not the luckiest boy in the world? I think I had a rough life and that’s probably why I’m not so good around other dogs. I’m cautious and stand my ground if other dogs approach me. Old habits die hard, I guess. On the other hand, I love humans! By and large, they have been good to me so I love them. I might be a little timid at first when I meet someone new but humans are the best. I’m pretty good with my commands and even the leash thing is working itself out. I don’t like people taking things away from me and I’m embarrassed to say that I have bitten under those circumstances. I have been at school for a while and have done some ‘learnin’. If I have something in my mouth that I like and you don’t want me to have it, ask me to ‘drop it’ and I will ~ don’t try to take it out of my mouth or I’ll get growly. So, I should not be around children and other dogs…and I know that’s asking for a lot! My fantastic foster dad describes me as sweet, easy-going, and beautiful with a gorgeous coat. Aw shucks! Look, I know I have some issues ~ I’m not fond of other dogs, I have some hot spots that are clearing up with my new food, I don’t like people taking stuff out of my mouth, I eat my poo (yuk), and I don’t like my back end touched until I get to know you. Holy cow, that’s a lot of stuff to contend with. On the good side, I love to chew sticks ~ it’s my favourite pastime. I love to get good and comfortable and chew, chew, chew. My foster mom says I’m really cute because I always want the stick you have so I’ll be laying down chewing on one and then I see the stick you have and I promptly abandon the one I had. I also love attention and petting and laying down on the grass on my back for belly rubs. Seriously, I’m not trying to make excuses but I think my previous life was pretty hard and I guess those scars are still around. But I’ll tell you this, if you give me a chance, I promise to love you. I promise to cuddle with you every day. I promise to look up to you with gratitude-filled eyes. I’m here waiting for you. Is there a chance you might be ‘Charlie’s Angel’?
