Available Adoptions

Golden Rescue is a 'rescue' organization. As such, we help Goldens who need a second chance and we believe we can responsibly rehome. Very often, we know very little about their history. Although we make every effort during our fostering process to assess the Goldens in our care, we cannot predict their behaviour in your home as some behaviours may present themselves later or there may be a ‘trigger’ we didn’t experience.

We also have all of our Goldens assessed by a qualified veterinarian and all conditions that are discovered are treated and disclosed before the Golden goes up for adoption; however, conditions could develop later that were not discovered by the vet at the time of examination. It costs an average of $1,700 to put one Golden through our program. The adoption fee for Goldens rescued within Ontario and Quebec is $500.  The adoption fee for Goldens rescued from countries outside of Canada is $800.  These fees help us tremendously to defer the ever-increasing cost of care and transportation.

Responsible pet ownership can be an expensive proposition and we urge you to consider the potential ongoing costs of owning a dog before making the decision to adopt.

At the present time our Goldens are being fostered in Ontario and occasionally in Quebec. During the adoption process a home visit needs to be arranged with your family and you must agree to come and visit the dog at his/her foster home. If the match is a good one, you'll need to arrange appropriate transportation to bring the dog home with you.

Status Explanations:

Adoption In Progress - A shortlist of applicants who have most closely matched the foster's 'wish list' have been identified and the adoption process is in progress.

Adoption Pending - The Golden is imminently joining their forever family.

If there is no status update, it means we are currently looking at applications and you're welcome to submit your interest.

Adopted - The Golden has happily joined their forever family.

Adoption Alert ~ Jack #2539 - Revised

Hi everyone my name is Jack and I’m around four years old (not that I’m super good at counting…haha). Although I’m ‘mostly Golden’, the thought is that I might have a little Chow in me and I’m told I’m handsome! I’ve been with my fosters for a while because I have some issues. I am getting worried that no one wants me.

Adoption Alert ~ Molly #2609

Hi everyone ~ my name is Molly and I’m around two years old. Now, somehow or other I got to Canada from Istanbul. It was like a miracle. In Canada, I get fed regularly. I have a wonderful bed. I have a wonderful foster family. I have a huge backyard where I can play and run…and by the way, I run like the wind.

Adoption Alert ~ Bentley #2622

Hi everyone...my name is Bentley and I’m around seven years old. I came from the streets of Istanbul and magically arrived in Canada. I don’t know how or why but here I am...and everyone has been so good to me.

Adoption Alert ~ Karma #2619 - Adoption in Progress

Hi everyone my name is Karma and I’m a six-year-old girl. My wonderful foster dad says I’m an angel…a loving, gentle, polite girl. Ah shucks! I love people although I can be a little timid on first meeting but in a few minutes I’m fine.

Adoption Alert ~ Auguste #2623 - Adopted!!

Bonjour mes amis! Je m’appelle Auguste. I am an eight-year-old boy who is so grateful to the good folks at GR and particularly my amazing foster family. I was found lost and alone and ended up in a shelter in Quebec. I was not in very good shape but look at me now! Pretty handsome, n’est pas

Adoption Alert ~ Penny #2599 - Adopted!!

“Every time it rains, it rains pennies from heaven…” Oops, hi everybody! My name is Penny and I’ve loved that song ever since I heard my fantastic foster mom say, “Penny’s from heaven”. Now I’m pretty sure I’m not but it sure was a lovely thing to say about me.

Adoption Alert ~ Gus #2614 - Adopted!!

Hi everyone my name is Gus and I’m two years old. My wonderful foster family describe me as a very sweet boy with a handsome face and a good heart. I think the world of them too ~ they have been so kind to me. When I first arrived at their home, I didn’t know what was happening.
