The Adoption Process

Our rescue dogs are very special to us. As volunteers working for the welfare of our breed, our best reward is to see rescued Goldens placed with wonderful new guardians who will give them a safe, happy, and loving home. To be considered as an adopting guardian you must be willing to:

  • return the dog to Golden Rescue if, for any reason, you can no longer keep it
  • keep the rescue dog solely as a companion and household pet
  • keep the Golden in good health and give it good care. This includes providing all necessary and preventative veterinary treatment as established by Golden Rescue. Proper care of a dog includes ensuring that it always has fresh water, quality feed, appropriate sleeping quarters, proper grooming, exercise, and attention.
  • have available a securely fenced yard or appropriate dog run. Tying dogs outside to a post or clothesline or promising to always accompany your dog are not acceptable substitutes.

Find out if a Golden is right for you

Please note that the form is quite long. After the form has been completed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail, your application will be stored in our adoptee database, and our administrators will be notified. We will contact you, by email, to confirm your application within 48 hours of receipt.

When you register, the last adoption alert we sent will immediately be sent out to you. Please check your SPAM or JUNK email folder in case you don't receive it. If it it ends up in either of those, simply add us to your recognized senders list, or contact list to ensure you receive your alerts. Thanks!

Adoption Application Form

Thank you for your interest in adopting a Golden from Golden Rescue!

This application is designed to help us match you with the right Golden, based on your family, space, and personalities.

You may well have your eye set on that one adorable Golden on the website, but so do many others. However, once you have filled in an application, our placement team will continue to review your application. It may take several months, but in time, we will find you your new best friend.

If children live in your household, we acknowledge that your wait may be longer. As we often have little or no history of a Golden in our care, we have to be certain they are terrific with children as we are not prepared to take any chances. It is in our mission statement that we have to responsibly re-home all Goldens and that means the safety of children comes first.

Our adoption fee for Goldens rescued within Ontario and Quebec is $500. Our adoption fee for Goldens rescued from countries outside of Canada is $800. These fees help us tremendously to defer the ever-increasing cost of care and transportation.

Also, please note that this application cannot be filled out on mobile devices.

BEFORE completing this application, please check the box to the left of the following statements to indicate that you have read and agree with each one:

  1. Do you have a dog-walker/sitter picked out?
  2.
  1. If you are interested in one of the Goldens posted on our website, please indicate here the name and rescue number of the Golden.

If this Golden goes to another home, please be patient while we look for another Golden for your family.
